Women Better At Affiliate Internet Marketing?

Are women better, more focused, and more successful overall with their affiliate internet marketing business, than men? I’m not really sure if there has ever been any type of data to back any of that up or not, but, I do know that I’m noticing a trend with my own sales between the amount of women who follow through, and actually use certain memberships as opposed to men.

How am I able to tell the trend? Well, basically it comes down to refund or cancellation rates, especially of the types of memberships that are used for actually “building” a successful affiliate business. While there could be different reasons for a cancellation, what I’m really beginning to notice is that women are sticking to their guns and genuinely working towards their goals more often than men. Now, please don’t get me wrong. I’m not really suggesting anything here. I’m merely stating what the stats are telling me lately.

It got me wondering why this might be the case. Here are a few of the ideas I had pop into my head:

- women seem to understand that an affiliate internet marketing business, is like any other, and expect it to take FOCUSED hard work..the same as it takes to build any business, online or off. I could be wrong on this, but, men, are generally known to be more the “dreamer” type.

- women are known to handle money and finances far better than men. This I WILL have to agree with. I’m the WORST when it comes to handling finances! While this may not be true of every family or situation, men often allow their spouse to handle the paying of bills, keep track of the finances in the bank account etc..because they realize they are NOT the greatest with this stuff themselves, and don’t trust themselves to keep up with things properly.

- perhaps more women come from a secretarial type of background, so they are more content with putting in long hours on their computers? Again, this is just a guess, but, certainly it is true that more women than men come from a background similar to this.

- women don’t buy into the HYPE associated with salespages quite as eagerly. Again, this goes back to perhaps women being known as “realists” as opposed to “dreamers”. They don’t believe so much in the “lottery..get rich overnight” mentality. Unless, you come from a well off family, or are expecting some type of inheritance in the future..”get rich quick” doesn’t exist. At least not in the real world, and it’s especially true of building a successful long term affiliate internet marketing business.

So what do you think?

Do you think some of the reasoning above may explain some of the findings I’ve been experiencing with my own data?

My earliest mentor, and some of the women I’ve known that have went on to be successful later on, are very focused and hard working. They are also the type that know that it takes time to see results, and understand, patience will pay off and is necessary with this kind of business.

I also know many successful “male” marketers as well. Whichever the case may be, they are all the type to never give up, and no matter how many times they may have fallen on their face, they get back up and keep going. Which in the end, whether male or female, eventually will lead to success.

Most of the findings are based on membership of The IM Advantage. The IM Advantage is an exceptional value no matter which way you look at it (Linkvana costs $147 a month offering only one service) and The IMAdvantage offers 5 times the services (including a better variation of the service Linkvana offers) and more valuable perks.. built into one membership, for the same price. While there is still work involved (there is with anything) it handles the automation of many of things we need to do as marketers on a daily basis.

I’ve been finding that more men seem to cancel after one month, as opposed to women. Which, is not enough time to see results of efforts for any business! While, the women who have memberships there seem to be actually hanging on, doing the work, and seem to understand the true value..and actually put it to work for themselves. And so it should be. This membership solves a GREAT deal of the problems associated with search engine marketing, as opposed to completely doing it by hand.

Are these findings pure coincidence, or do you think women may be more “cutout” for the type of work that’s involved with affiliate internet marketing?

I’d like to know your opinion on it. Please leave your comments below!

Davin, you are on the money with this post. Women are nurturers by nature and do the same with their businesses as they would do when raising a child, nuture until they grow strong and self sufficient.

I also think women can see the opportunity is available online to them to grow their own business and by using their nurturing abilities and patience can go to the top and let no man stand in their way…

There is no glass ceiling in Internet Marketing, making it easier for women to succeed online today. GIRL POWER!!! LOL…

Great Post Davin look forward to the next one.

    Davin,

here is my grain of salt.

Maybe it is that women will need to follow an instruction manual, and men need to experiment by themselves and want action and not flying carpets theory.

Also on the money thing being kept by women in a family setting, did you ever try to make an argument about doing it the way you want with your wife, better to let them do it otherwise you will have to endure an century of nagging about the same single little thing over and over again, so i think Men do it differently than Women that is for sure, also about the refund thing, maybe they already got the information somewhere else and they found out after purchasing the item that it was the same old crap again…. happens a lot in the IM business, lots of Hype and not much content or actual information about anything really. I know I hate being told 5 million times that I need to listen for another hour before finally someone tells me that I need to buy something else to be able to get some more information I already was sold but never got. Men want action, not a 5 hour sermon on nothing more than thin air.

That I hate very much, and yes I did demand a refund on a few occasions, for that matter, I hate being scammed, and I will not take it lying down.

I have worked in some office with only women, it turned out to be an absolute nightmare of a job, all they ever wanted was to get a report about the report that told them that the previous report did not talk about the report in enough details, And I had to stay at night to do the actual work that nobody did during the day, not the type of work I find productive, and the B+*&%ING too was horrible.

And when I got a job in a mostly men environment it was a lot more competitive and sort of like a challenge all the time, with lots of encouragements, and no BS, sometimes ego got flustered but seconds later everything was back to normal.

So yes, Men work differently than woman that is for sure. Is it better or worst for either gender, you just cannot tell from a product sales reference, it all depends on how the product was made and the targeted prospect it was intended to.

I have been in the bricks and mortar retails for 25 years and if you try to sell to men and women the same way, well your just going to fail, miserably, not the same motivation, not the same values or sets of morals or anything for that matters. so!

Loads of Blah Blah products are for women and fast action and to the point products are for Men. That is just the nature of things.

Well, thank you for the comments guys. There are definitely going to be different views on this for sure. I had a feeling many women would agree, and, I also expected to get a bit of a backlash from the men reading it.

As I said, it’s simply based on some of my own findings lately, and I trend I’d been noticing.

As for the comment on the product I’m speaking about Alain. The IM Advantage isn’t really the type of product that simply gives people information. It actually contains the tools and services necessary to build a successful business using the search engines as your main source for traffic. Which, as most of us know, does take some time depending on the niches and keyword phrases we are targeting. It does contain more than that, but, that is it’s main purpose.

I do agree with your statement about “women nurturing” their businesses much the same way, they do other aspects in their lives as well Sandy. Some great comments guys..I appreciate them!

The computer was not invented when I went to school, we didn’t even have a type-writer. I have spent a fortune trying to get something going on the internet,I bought so many programs and would get as far as trying to put a blog on the site. I paid for two years of site and hosting and never got to use it. Back then you would pay for a course or products and I would always get as far as downloading on the web and get lost. I have been paying since 1998, now I have no money, but I’m still trying, and I still do not know how to enter it on the web site. I’m sure younger people do better, but 99% of the emails I get are from men.

  6. Davin says:

Hey Robena, thanx for responding. What is it you have been paying for since 1998, and still do not know how to enter it onto a web site? Wow, perhaps we should talk. I’m not quite sure what you are talking about at this point, but, if you’d like to get in touch, perhaps I could help you with it.

Actually, I was never taught, and also we had very few classes for computers back when I was in school. I never touched a computer really until I was about 34 years old. I sort of became very interested in them from the start and decided to go back to college for a number of years to learn more. It was in college when I started to get an interest in online marketing, and I finally took the plunge in late 2006.

Anyhow, if it’s something I might be able to help with drop me a line.. Take care of yourself.

  7. MaryBeth creaturecomfortsservices.com says:

    Hey Davin:
Being a woman, I might be a tad biased re this subject but I try hard to be fair.
The way I see it, women are clear on their goals and just want a formula to follow. They don’t mind all the hours it might take as long as there are some results along the way.
For example, when a woman gets a sale, she would be happy with having one because it says she is on the right path. A guy would complain that he ‘only got one’ and fail to see the
    value of it.
We look deeper into issues, not just the surface which is one thing the sexes have been battling about for centuries.
I think it is a good thing since many entrepreneurs are now women. Oh well, looks like I am a bit biased after all/ (lol)

  8. singapore bloggers socialsg.com says:

Interesting subject. Women in Singapore are more materialistic too so my judgement might be biased. I have to say that most of the points are valid. Women here have a lot of spending power backed up by a strong career and shopping addiction. You understand one if you are one right?

Gary Gregory is an inspiration and man to be reckoned with. I first met Gary years ago in Holly Mann's forum. Gary stuck things through, and kept plugging away at his online business ventures and in time he became very successful. Gary is a guy that could tell you first hand that persistence and dedication pay off. His real success came when he took George Brown's Google Sniper System to extreme heights and much deserved success. He's since went on to helping many, many, people where otherwise they would have been left out in the cold by some of the money sucking "gurus". He understands the pain and hurt of being left frustrated with online marketing, by the many gaps that so many products out there "conveniently" leave out. Now, that Gary is successful he's come up with his own twists on the proven methods that worked so well for him, and which he uses daily in his own online business. He's set to release a revolutionary and complete "A-Z" no fail system in the fall of 2010. Great going Gary, it's an honor to call you a friend!
